New World of Sophistication Unveiled at Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing's Valley Wing

On 8 March 2007, Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing unveiled a new world of sophistication with its Valley Wing, an RMB400 million (USD50 million) expansion programme, which includes an additional 142 rooms and suites, a magnificent grand ballroom and conference facilities, an exclusive contemporary western restaurant, a health club and CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La. Following in the footsteps of the acclaimed Valley Wing at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, the new tower is designed to create an address that is the ultimate in luxury and exclusivity.
With a chauffeur-driven limousine service, a private driveway and an exclusive check-in lounge, guests of the new Valley Wing enjoy an unparalleled level of service, including 24-hour butler and concierge services. Complimentary breakfast, snacks and beverages, including free flow of champagne, wines and canapés, are available all day in the grand Valley Wing Lounge, one of the largest executive lounge in the Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts group worldwide. Guests also have complimentary access to meeting rooms and computers with broadband and wireless internet connections.
Located in a 17-storey modern glass tower, the additional 142 guestrooms increase the hotel’s total room count to 670. Tasteful and elegant with Chinese design elements, each room benefits from a spacious lounge area, a walk-in wardrobe, a luxurious bathroom and state-of-the-art technology. With a minimum size of 50 square metres, they are some of the largest guestrooms in the city. The Valley Wing also offers a selection of suites, including 20 Diplomat Suites, one Specialty Suite and a majestic 245-square-metre Presidential Suite with personal butler service.
The Valley Wing is also home to the exclusive contemporary restaurant and cocktail lounge, Blu Lobster, which features fresh and inventive western cuisine, accompanied by the finest and the most extensive selection of Bordeaux wines in Beijing.
Meanwhile, Shangri-La’s exclusive spa, CHI, The Spa brings some of the largest and most luxurious private treatment suites to the city, offering guests their very own “spa within a spa.” Each spa suite features a changing area and rain shower, in addition to heat treatments, bathing and relaxation spaces.
Dominating the second floor, the 1,350-square-metre Grand Ballroom features an eight-metre-high ceiling set with dramatic crystal chandeliers. Seating up to 1,400 people, the Grand Ballroom caters for events ranging from grand banquets and receptions to formal conferences. With direct access via a large lift, it has the capacity to be transformed into a beautiful car showroom for model launches.
