The Mandarin Spa - Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong’s Spa & Beauty Facility

Honouring the hotel’s Chinese heritage and original design, the all-encompassing Mandarin Spa offers holistic rejuvenation and relaxation in a tranquil, meditative setting. Set in 2,100 square metres over three floors, the Mandarin Spa is one of the largest spas in the city and incorporates an indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, holistic spa, the Mandarin Salon and the Mandarin Barber. It is one of only 20 spas in the world to be awarded five stars by the prestigious Forbes Travel Guide (formerly Mobil) in November 2010.

The Mandarin Spa
The Mandarin Spa offers holistic rejuvenation and relaxation in a tranquil, meditative setting. Spread over 2,100 square metres, the facility is positioned throughout three floors and incorporates an indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, holistic Spa, Mandarin Salon and Mandarin Barber.

The Mandarin Spa draws on the established Asian healing philosophies of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, offering individual and couples’ suites, Vichy Shower, Traditional Chinese Medicine consultations and Hong Kong’s first Ayurvedic sanctuary. The heat and water experiences have been created to soothe both mind and soul; guests can indulge in the ice fountain, Chinese herb steam rooms and experience showers as well as hydrotherapy and the exclusive Kneipp pool. The spa features Mandarin Oriental’s signature treatment, ‘Oriental Harmony’ - a two hour synchronized four-handed body treatment, as well as other mind-body-spirit rituals all of which are rooted in oriental custom.

The Mandarin Spa is open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Reservations can be made by calling the spa directly on 2825 4888.

The Mandarin Salon
For perfect, head-turning hair usually seen only in magazines, The Mandarin Salon is a focus point for fine hair styling in Hong Kong. Located on the 24th floor, the salon has been in existence since 1963, and was renovated in 2009 offering its clients a spacious, light, modern environs with views over the harbour and private VIP treatment rooms.

Its simple objective is to match quality with innovation. Internationally trained stylists understand clients’ hair needs and create individualised looks and styles. It carries an extensive choice specialised product ranges including those by Philip Kingsley, ghd and M.O.P. (Modern Organic Products).

The Mandarin Salon also offers manicures, pedicures, make-up, beauty treatments and the world-famous Shanghai Pedicure by Samuel So on its treatment list and is renowned for offering the best – and least painful – waxing services in the city.

The Mandarin Barber
With its dark wood veneers, decorative ironwork and Chinese screen-printed glass – inspired by the Art Deco chic of 1930s Shanghai – The Mandarin Barber is a classic masculine retreat.

Located on the hotel’s second floor, its warm, inviting atmosphere provides an oasis of serenity in the heart of the city. Inside this rarefied space, a team of barbers, many of whom have decades of experience, presides over six traditional barber chairs and afford the city’s gentlemen a range of personal grooming services.

The Mandarin Barber offers lifestyle treatments for men, including the hotel’s acclaimed Shanghainese pedicure, massages, facials and waxing in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, reminiscent of a private gentleman’s club.

The Fitness Centre
The spacious Fitness Centre on the 24th floor is open 24 hours a day and is equipped with new generation apparatus including Hollywood’s favourite fitness machine, the Powerplate and an extensive range of fitness equipment by Technogym including a Kinesis Wall. The professionally qualified instructors can offer lifestyle consultations and bespoke physical fitness and wellness programmes that can be followed independently or through private training sessions.

All the equipment in The Mandarin Fitness Centre is fitted with a ‘wellness system’. This is a memory key that remembers each guest’s workout information. When plugged into the cardio machines, the equipment will automatically set itself to the guest’s personalised programme, selecting the correct speed, incline and exercise regime etc. for each piece of machinery.
